Acoustic Simulation
Acoustic simulation aims to accurately model sound propagation and its interaction with environments, enabling applications like auralization and noise mitigation. Current research emphasizes developing efficient and accurate time-domain solvers, including semi-analytic solutions for benchmarking and differentiable simulators leveraging machine learning for optimization and integration with existing frameworks. These advancements are improving the realism of virtual acoustic environments, facilitating the design of better sound absorption materials, and even offering novel assistive technologies for the visually impaired by translating spatial information into sound. The development of comprehensive databases of instrument directivities and room acoustic properties further enhances the accuracy and applicability of these simulations.
