Active 3D Reconstruction
Active 3D reconstruction aims to efficiently and accurately create three-dimensional models of objects by strategically selecting viewpoints for image acquisition. Current research focuses on improving view planning algorithms, often employing neural radiance fields (NeRFs) and reinforcement learning to optimize viewpoint selection and handle occlusions, sometimes incorporating multi-agent systems or embodied AI for more complex scenarios. These advancements are significant because they reduce the time and effort required for 3D modeling, impacting fields like robotics, virtual reality, and digital asset creation.
