Acute Kidney Injury
Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a sudden decline in kidney function, a serious condition affecting a substantial portion of hospitalized patients, particularly those in intensive care. Current research focuses on improving early AKI prediction using machine learning models, including deep learning, dynamic Bayesian networks, and other algorithms that leverage both structured clinical data (e.g., lab values, medication records) and unstructured data (e.g., clinical notes). These advancements aim to enable timely interventions, optimize resource allocation, and ultimately improve patient outcomes by facilitating more accurate risk stratification and personalized treatment strategies.
