Agent teams research focuses on designing and optimizing groups of autonomous agents—robots, AI models, or a combination—to collaboratively achieve complex tasks. Current research emphasizes robust team adaptation to unforeseen failures, efficient task allocation strategies leveraging agent capabilities and implicit preferences, and the development of hierarchical planning and control architectures, including those incorporating reinforcement learning and large language models. This field is significant for advancing both fundamental understanding of multi-agent systems and for enabling practical applications in diverse areas such as robotics, search and rescue, and human-robot collaboration.
