Air Computation
Air computation (AirComp) leverages the superposition property of wireless channels to aggregate data from multiple devices simultaneously, significantly reducing communication overhead in distributed machine learning tasks like federated learning. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and robustness of AirComp-based federated learning algorithms, often employing techniques like lattice coding, adaptive weighting, and power control to mitigate the effects of channel noise and device heterogeneity. This approach holds significant promise for enhancing the scalability and efficiency of distributed AI applications, particularly in resource-constrained wireless environments, by enabling faster and more energy-efficient model training.
