Airborne LiDAR
Airborne LiDAR, using laser pulses to create detailed 3D maps from aerial perspectives, is increasingly used for diverse applications ranging from forestry and archaeology to urban planning. Current research focuses on developing efficient deep learning models, such as 3D transformers and convolutional neural networks, to process the massive datasets generated, enabling automated tasks like scene segmentation, building reconstruction, and biomass estimation. These advancements improve accuracy and speed compared to traditional methods, offering significant benefits for various scientific disciplines and practical applications requiring high-resolution spatial data.
