Algorithmic Problem Solving Skill
Algorithmic problem-solving skill research focuses on developing and evaluating methods for assessing and improving the ability to break down complex problems into solvable steps. Current research explores diverse approaches, including the development of automated assessment tools, augmentation of large language models (LLMs) with differentiable computer libraries to enhance their algorithmic reasoning capabilities, and the creation of benchmark datasets using visually rich programming problems and mathematical puzzles to evaluate multimodal models. These efforts aim to better understand the nature of algorithmic thinking, identify its limitations in current AI systems, and ultimately improve both human and artificial intelligence's capacity for complex problem-solving across various domains.
