Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research focuses on improving early diagnosis and monitoring disease progression to enable timely interventions. Current efforts leverage machine learning, employing diverse models such as diffusion autoencoders, transformers, and linear regression, to analyze data from various sources including MRI scans, sensor data, and speech recordings. These advancements aim to provide more objective and efficient assessment methods compared to traditional approaches, ultimately improving patient care and facilitating more effective clinical trials. The development of automated, remote assessment tools holds particular promise for improving accessibility and reducing the burden on both patients and clinicians.
