Animatable Head Avatar
Animatable head avatars are realistic 3D models of human heads capable of expressing a range of poses and emotions in real-time. Current research focuses on developing efficient and high-fidelity methods for creating these avatars from limited input data, such as a single image or video, employing techniques like 3D Gaussian splatting, point-based shape models, and neural radiance fields often conditioned on existing facial models (e.g., FLAME). These advancements are driving progress in fields like AR/VR, digital entertainment, and personalized virtual experiences by enabling the creation of highly realistic and expressive digital representations of individuals.
