Arbitrary Oriented Object DEtection
Arbitrary-oriented object detection (AOOD) focuses on accurately identifying and locating objects in images regardless of their orientation, a crucial task in domains like aerial imagery and scene text analysis. Current research emphasizes improving the accuracy of angle prediction by addressing issues like angular boundary discontinuities and inconsistencies between classification and localization scores, often employing techniques such as novel loss functions, metric-aligned sample selection, and transformer-based architectures. These advancements enhance the robustness and efficiency of AOOD models, leading to improved performance in various applications requiring precise object detection in complex scenes.
