Artificial Neuron
Artificial neurons are computational models inspired by biological neurons, aiming to replicate their information processing capabilities within artificial neural networks (ANNs). Current research focuses on developing more biologically plausible neuron models, including those based on spiking activity, and exploring novel architectures like reservoir computing and networks incorporating self-attention mechanisms to improve performance and efficiency. This research is significant for advancing both our understanding of biological neural systems and for creating more powerful, energy-efficient, and adaptable AI systems with applications ranging from neuromorphic computing to robotics and signal processing.
