Current research focuses on developing robust models, often incorporating transformer architectures and novel attention mechanisms (like criss-cross attention and layer-wise momentum query), to address the variability in stroke shapes and global structure inherent in artistic text. These advancements are driven by the need for improved performance in applications such as text image generation and editing, and are facilitated by the creation of new, specialized datasets of artistic text. The resulting improvements in accuracy and robustness have broad implications for various fields relying on accurate text processing in images.
