Atomic Resolution
Atomic resolution imaging aims to visualize and analyze matter at the level of individual atoms, enabling unprecedented insights into material structure and behavior. Current research heavily utilizes advanced electron and X-ray microscopy techniques coupled with sophisticated algorithms like ptychography and deep neural networks (including convolutional and diffusion models) to enhance image quality, speed up analysis, and overcome limitations like the missing wedge effect. These advancements are significantly impacting materials science, chemistry, and biology by facilitating detailed studies of complex systems, such as protein folding and the properties of heterogeneous materials, and accelerating the development of new materials and drugs.
