AV Behaviour
Research on autonomous vehicle (AV) behavior focuses on understanding and improving how AVs interact with their environment, particularly pedestrians and other vehicles, to ensure safety and efficiency. Current studies utilize virtual reality simulations and real-world data analysis to investigate the impact of AV operational strategies, signaling systems, and roadway infrastructure on pedestrian behavior and AV decision-making, often employing cognitive models to analyze human-AV interactions. These findings are crucial for developing robust AV testing methodologies, improving AV safety standards, and informing the design of infrastructure to support safe and efficient integration of AVs into existing transportation systems.
