Beam Alignment
Beam alignment (BA) focuses on precisely aligning transmitting and receiving antennas to maximize signal strength and data rates in wireless communication, particularly crucial for narrow, high-bandwidth millimeter-wave systems and also relevant in other fields like proton therapy. Current research emphasizes efficient algorithms, such as those based on multi-armed bandits and Bayesian optimization, to rapidly find optimal beam pairings while minimizing latency and computational cost. These advancements are significant for improving the performance and reliability of 5G and beyond networks, as well as optimizing treatment planning in proton therapy by efficiently determining optimal beam configurations.
