Biomedical question answering (BQA) focuses on developing systems that accurately and efficiently answer complex questions related to medicine and biology using large text corpora like PubMed. Current research emphasizes improving the accuracy and reliability of large language models (LLMs) for BQA, often through techniques like prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and the use of specialized architectures such as Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models to handle diverse question types. These advancements aim to enhance access to biomedical information for researchers and clinicians, ultimately improving healthcare practices and accelerating scientific discovery.
