Boundary Representation
Boundary representation (B-Rep) is a fundamental method for representing 3D shapes in computer-aided design (CAD), focusing on defining objects through their boundaries (faces, edges, vertices). Current research emphasizes automated B-Rep generation and reconstruction from various data sources (point clouds, scans, images) using deep learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), transformers, and autoregressive models. These advancements aim to improve efficiency in reverse engineering, CAD model creation, and generative design, impacting fields like manufacturing and digital design. The development of robust and accurate B-Rep methods is crucial for bridging the gap between digital representations and physical objects.
