Braille Letter Reading
Braille letter reading research focuses on improving accessibility and comprehension for visually impaired individuals. Current efforts concentrate on developing accurate and efficient braille-to-text and braille-to-speech conversion systems, employing deep learning models like encoder-decoder architectures (e.g., mT5) and integrating CLIP and FastSpeech2 for audio generation. These advancements leverage both spatial and temporal information from tactile sensors, exploring both traditional and neuromorphic hardware implementations to optimize speed, accuracy, and energy efficiency. The ultimate goal is to create robust and accessible tools that enhance educational opportunities and overall quality of life for the visually impaired.
