Brightness Illusion
Brightness illusions, perceptual discrepancies between objective luminance and subjective brightness, are a focus of ongoing research aiming to understand how the visual system processes and interprets light information. Current studies employ deep learning models, including transformers and attention mechanisms, to classify and localize illusory regions within images, creating large-scale datasets for benchmarking these algorithms. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of human visual perception and has implications for improving image processing techniques, such as low-light enhancement and high dynamic range tone mapping, leading to more perceptually accurate image rendering.
