Research focuses on improving accuracy using advanced imaging techniques like ultrasound and laser Doppler imaging, coupled with machine learning models such as convolutional neural networks and Super Learners, to analyze image features (e.g., texture, spectral signatures) and predict burn severity. These efforts aim to provide objective, quantitative measures of burn depth, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment planning, and ultimately, patient outcomes.
