Camera Noise

Camera noise, a ubiquitous problem in image acquisition, is the subject of intense research focused on accurately modeling its complex statistical properties and developing effective countermeasures. Current efforts leverage deep learning, particularly normalizing flows and contrastive learning, to create realistic noise models from noisy images alone, bypassing the need for paired clean/noisy data. These improved models are crucial for training more effective denoisers and for enabling better understanding of noise sources within camera systems, ultimately improving image quality and the reliability of vision-based systems.
