Cartoon Texture
Cartoon texture research focuses on decomposing images into distinct components—structure, smooth regions, and oscillatory textures—to improve image processing tasks like segmentation and cartoonization. Current approaches leverage advanced mathematical models incorporating regularization techniques (e.g., $L^0$-gradient and curvature regularization) and efficient algorithms (like ADMM and operator splitting) to achieve accurate and artifact-free separation of these components. This work is significant for enhancing image analysis and computer vision applications, enabling more robust and controllable image manipulation and improved segmentation accuracy, particularly in images with complex textures.
