Circular Economy
The circular economy aims to minimize waste and maximize resource utilization by transitioning from linear "take-make-dispose" models to cyclical systems that prioritize reuse, recycling, and remanufacturing. Current research heavily emphasizes the application of artificial intelligence, particularly computer vision and deep learning (e.g., YOLOv5, VGG-16, and other convolutional neural networks), to automate material sorting, mapping, and quantification in various sectors, including electronics and healthcare waste management. This work is significant because it offers practical solutions for improving resource efficiency and reducing environmental impact, while also providing valuable data-driven insights into public perception and policy needs related to sustainable practices.
