Cirrus Cloud
Cirrus clouds, high-altitude ice clouds, significantly influence Earth's climate, yet their formation and impact remain poorly understood, leading to uncertainties in climate models. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy of cirrus cloud detection and prediction using machine learning techniques, such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and LSTM networks, often incorporating attention mechanisms to enhance feature extraction from satellite imagery. These advancements leverage multispectral data and incorporate sophisticated algorithms to better understand the relationships between meteorological conditions, aerosol concentrations (including those from wildfires), and cirrus cloud properties, ultimately aiming to reduce uncertainties in climate projections and improve wildfire monitoring.
