Climate Projection
Climate projection research aims to accurately predict future climate conditions under various emission scenarios, primarily using Earth System Models (ESMs). Current efforts focus on improving ESMs' accuracy and efficiency through techniques like deep learning, including diffusion models for downscaling and autoencoders for dimensionality reduction, as well as incorporating physical constraints into machine learning models to enhance interpretability and generalizability. These advancements are crucial for refining predictions of extreme weather events, sea-level rise, and other climate impacts, ultimately informing effective climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
