Clinical Narrative

Clinical narrative analysis focuses on extracting meaningful information from unstructured patient data like clinical notes and social media posts to improve healthcare. Current research utilizes natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including transformer models like BERT and RoBERTa, and large language models (LLMs) such as GPT-3 and FLAN-T5-XL, to analyze text, identify key medical concepts (symptoms, diagnoses, treatments), and predict patient outcomes. This work is significant because it unlocks the wealth of information hidden in unstructured data, enabling more personalized medicine, improved diagnostic tools, and a deeper understanding of patient experiences.
