Coastal Area
Coastal area research focuses on understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change and human activities on these vital ecosystems. Current efforts utilize advanced techniques like artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning algorithms (including deep learning and CatBoost), and federated learning, to analyze high-resolution satellite imagery (e.g., Sentinel-2) and create digital twin models for improved monitoring and prediction of water quality, marine debris, and sea-level rise. This work is crucial for informing effective environmental management strategies, improving public health, and enabling more informed decision-making by coastal communities.
