Current research focuses on applying codebook methods within various architectures, including variational autoencoders (VAEs), transformers, and generative adversarial networks (GANs), often incorporating techniques like vector quantization and product quantization to optimize codebook size and utilization. This approach has shown promise in diverse applications, such as image and speech processing, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning, by improving model efficiency, robustness, and interpretability, particularly in low-resource or high-dimensional data scenarios.
