Cognitive Engagement
Cognitive engagement, encompassing both cognitive and socio-affective aspects, is a multifaceted area of research aiming to understand and measure how individuals interact with information and tasks. Current research focuses on developing computational models, including convolutional neural networks and transformer architectures, to analyze various data sources like electroencephalograms (EEGs) and conversational transcripts to quantify engagement levels in diverse contexts, such as education and healthcare. These advancements hold significant promise for improving learning technologies, personalized healthcare interventions, and the design of human-computer interfaces by providing objective measures of cognitive load and engagement.
