Collaborative Robotic Arm

Collaborative robotic arms (cobots) are designed for safe and efficient human-robot interaction, primarily focusing on shared tasks and improved productivity. Current research emphasizes enhancing safety through adaptive force/pressure sensing and control algorithms, improving autonomy via visual servoing and compliant control for tasks requiring dexterity (e.g., medical procedures, delicate assembly), and developing robust methods for object manipulation, including those with unknown properties or exceeding the robot's payload capacity. This field significantly impacts various sectors, from manufacturing and healthcare to laboratory automation, by increasing efficiency, reducing human workload in hazardous environments, and enabling new possibilities in precision tasks.
