Common Ground
Common ground, the shared understanding between conversational participants, is a crucial element in effective communication, particularly in human-computer interaction and multi-agent systems. Current research focuses on developing methods to automatically identify and utilize common ground in various contexts, including chatbot design, dialogue systems, and cross-lingual transfer in language models, often employing large language models and neural network architectures to achieve this. This work aims to improve the naturalness and effectiveness of human-computer interaction, enhance the performance of AI systems in collaborative tasks, and provide a deeper understanding of the cognitive processes underlying human communication.
