Communal Violence
Communal violence research aims to understand and mitigate various forms of violence, from femicide and anti-Asian hate crimes to online abuse and aggression in psychiatric settings. Current research employs machine learning techniques, including convolutional neural networks, recurrent neural networks (like LSTMs), and transformer-based models (like BERT), to analyze diverse data sources such as police reports, social media posts, and clinical notes, predicting violence risk and identifying patterns. These efforts are significant for improving public safety, informing policy interventions, and developing more effective strategies for preventing and responding to violence across different contexts.
