Complex Cognitive
Complex cognition research aims to understand and replicate the intricate mental processes underlying human intelligence, focusing on how distributed neural mechanisms give rise to sophisticated behaviors like reasoning, planning, and decision-making. Current research leverages large language models (LLMs) and transformer architectures, alongside biologically-inspired cognitive architectures, to investigate these processes, often analyzing information processing strategies through frameworks like information decomposition. This work has implications for improving AI systems, enhancing our understanding of human cognitive abilities (including conditions like dyslexia), and potentially bridging the gap between artificial and biological intelligence.
