Computational Legal
Computational legal studies applies computational methods, particularly large language models (LLMs), to analyze and automate legal tasks. Current research focuses on developing AI systems for tasks like legal document classification, deductive reasoning in statutory law, and even assisting in legal brief drafting. This interdisciplinary field aims to improve legal efficiency and transparency, while also raising important ethical considerations regarding the automation of judicial roles and the potential biases embedded in AI models trained on existing legal data. The ultimate goal is to leverage computational power to enhance the legal process and improve access to justice.
