Computer Aided Design Model
Computer-aided design (CAD) model research focuses on automating the creation and manipulation of 3D models, aiming to reduce design time and improve efficiency. Current efforts leverage deep learning, particularly transformer-based architectures and generative models like VAEs and diffusion models, to generate CAD models from various inputs such as images, text descriptions, and point clouds, often employing contrastive learning for improved representation. This research significantly impacts manufacturing and engineering by enabling faster prototyping, improved design exploration, and more efficient integration of CAD with other manufacturing processes, such as additive and subtractive manufacturing.
