Connected Reconfiguration
Connected reconfiguration focuses on efficiently rearranging a set of interconnected objects, such as robots or tiles, from an initial to a desired configuration while maintaining connectivity throughout the process. Research currently explores diverse approaches, including novel drive mechanisms for enhanced robot mobility and agility, high-bandwidth optical networks for faster distributed computation in large-scale systems, and sampling-based algorithms like RRT* for navigating complex environments with obstacles. These advancements are significant for improving the efficiency and scalability of robotic swarms, distributed computing systems, and automated construction processes.
