Construction Grammar

Construction Grammar (CxG) is a linguistic framework focusing on the pairings of form and meaning in language, emphasizing the role of constructions (form-meaning pairings) as fundamental building blocks rather than solely relying on rules operating on individual words. Current research heavily involves computational modeling, using large language models (LLMs) and other deep learning architectures to analyze and learn constructions from large corpora, often focusing on evaluating LLMs' understanding of constructional meaning and exploring methods to enhance language representation with constructional information. This research is significant for advancing both theoretical understanding of language and practical applications in natural language processing, particularly in tasks like natural language understanding and machine translation.
