Contactless Fingerprint

Contactless fingerprint recognition aims to authenticate individuals using images captured by cameras, eliminating the need for physical contact with a sensor. Current research heavily focuses on addressing challenges like perspective distortion and spoofing attacks through 3D feature extraction, deep learning models (including CNNs and Vision Transformers), and novel image enhancement and matching algorithms. These advancements are significant because they could lead to more hygienic, convenient, and secure biometric authentication systems across various applications, from mobile devices to border control.
