Contrast Maximization

Contrast maximization (CMax) is an optimization framework used to enhance image features, particularly in challenging conditions like low light or high-speed motion, by maximizing the contrast between foreground and background elements or regions of interest. Current research focuses on improving CMax's robustness to noise and outliers, particularly within event-based vision systems using novel algorithms and incorporating motion priors or geometric regularizers to refine motion estimation and prevent issues like "event collapse." These advancements are significantly impacting fields like robotics and earth observation by enabling more accurate and efficient processing of data from event cameras and other neuromorphic sensors.
