Corneal Reflection

Corneal reflections, the images reflected in the cornea of the eye, are being investigated for their potential to reveal information beyond direct line of sight. Current research focuses on accurately localizing and interpreting these reflections using deep learning models, often trained on synthetic data to overcome annotation challenges, for applications such as 3D scene reconstruction and gaze estimation. This research is significant because it offers novel approaches to computer vision problems, including improving the accuracy of eye trackers and enabling new methods for detecting deepfakes in video conferencing. Furthermore, understanding corneal reflections contributes to broader security and privacy concerns related to information leakage through eyeglass reflections.
