Counter Narrative
Counter-narratives are non-aggressive, fact-based responses designed to combat harmful online narratives, such as hate speech and misinformation. Current research focuses on automatically generating effective counter-narratives using large language models (LLMs) and other natural language processing techniques, often incorporating methods like contrastive learning and optimal transport to improve relevance and diversity. This field is significant because effective counter-narrative generation can help mitigate the spread of harmful content online, and ongoing research is improving the quality and applicability of automated systems through refined evaluation metrics and datasets.
