Cranial Nerve Tractography
Cranial nerve tractography uses diffusion MRI (dMRI) to map the pathways of cranial nerves within the brain, aiming to improve the accuracy and reliability of these reconstructions. Current research focuses on enhancing tractography through deep learning models, such as U-Nets and diffusion models, to address issues like incomplete field-of-view, susceptibility-induced distortions, and ambiguous fiber orientations, often incorporating anatomical constraints or multi-modal data for improved accuracy. These advancements are significant for neurological diagnosis and treatment planning, enabling more precise assessments of nerve damage and potentially informing surgical interventions or personalized therapies.
