Cryo Electron
Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) is a powerful technique for determining high-resolution 3D structures of biomolecules, but faces challenges like noise, heterogeneity, and computationally intensive processing. Current research focuses on improving image processing and reconstruction through deep learning methods, including generative adversarial networks (GANs), transformers, and autoencoders, often coupled with novel algorithms for pose estimation, particle picking, and segmentation. These advancements are significantly improving the speed, accuracy, and accessibility of cryo-EM, enabling more detailed studies of complex biological structures and their dynamics.
