Depth Perception
Depth perception, the ability to understand the three-dimensional structure of a scene, is a crucial area of research with applications ranging from robotics to autonomous driving. Current research focuses on improving the accuracy and robustness of depth estimation using various techniques, including monocular vision (single camera) methods employing neural networks like LSTMs and transformers, and multi-modal approaches integrating RGB and depth data with large language models. These advancements aim to overcome limitations of traditional depth sensors and improve performance in challenging scenarios such as low light, occlusion, and transparent objects, ultimately leading to more reliable and versatile systems for a wide range of applications.
