Design Goal

Design goal research focuses on developing computational tools and methods to efficiently explore and achieve desired design outcomes, addressing challenges in areas like product design and interior design. Current efforts center on leveraging AI, particularly generative models and large language models, to translate user-specified goals (expressed through text, images, or other modalities) into feasible and aesthetically pleasing designs, often employing multi-objective optimization and counterfactual reasoning techniques. This work is significant because it promises to democratize design processes by automating complex tasks and enabling non-experts to create high-quality designs, impacting both the efficiency of design workflows and the accessibility of creative tools.
