Diabetic Foot Ulcer
Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a severe complication of diabetes, leading to amputations and mortality, thus research focuses on improving early detection and treatment. Current research employs deep learning models, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs), vision transformers, and diffusion models, for image analysis tasks such as ulcer segmentation, infection/ischemia classification, and risk stratification using data like plantar thermography and pressure mapping. These advancements aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, personalize treatment (e.g., offloading device prescriptions), and ultimately reduce the burden of DFUs on patients and healthcare systems.
