Diachronic Corpus
Diachronic corpora, large collections of text spanning significant time periods, are crucial for studying language evolution and semantic change. Current research focuses on developing methods, often employing word embedding models like Word2Vec and ELMo, to automatically detect shifts in word meaning and writing conventions across different time slices within these corpora. This work is valuable for understanding historical linguistic trends, analyzing the impact of socio-political events on language, and providing tools for summarizing large bodies of scholarly literature across time, thereby facilitating both historical and contemporary research.
