Dialogue History
Dialogue history, the sequence of utterances in a conversation, is crucial for building effective conversational AI systems. Current research focuses on efficiently utilizing this history, particularly in long conversations, through techniques like attention mechanisms, context compression, and novel masking strategies within transformer-based models. This work aims to improve dialogue understanding, generation, and state tracking, leading to more natural and engaging interactions in applications ranging from chatbots and virtual assistants to knowledge-grounded systems and personalized dialogue agents. Improved metrics for evaluating dialogue systems are also a key area of ongoing development.
