Discourse Connective
Discourse connectives, words or phrases linking sentences and clauses, are crucial for understanding text coherence and meaning. Current research focuses on improving computational models' ability to process these connectives, particularly in challenging scenarios like implicit relations and complex logical structures, employing techniques like prompt tuning, neural networks with logical constraints, and novel grammatical formalisms. This work is significant for advancing natural language processing (NLP) systems, enabling more accurate and nuanced comprehension of human language, and improving applications like essay scoring and question answering.
