Dislocation Ontology

Dislocation ontology focuses on creating structured, machine-readable representations of knowledge about dislocations—linear defects in crystalline materials that significantly influence material properties. Current research emphasizes developing comprehensive ontologies, like DISO, that capture the complex relationships between dislocation types, their characteristics, and their impact on material behavior, often integrating with broader materials science ontologies. This work leverages semantic web technologies and linked data principles to facilitate data integration, knowledge sharing, and advanced querying capabilities within the materials science community, ultimately improving materials design and simulation.
